ISO1600
Ha: 24x10min = 4hrs
OIII: 18x10min = 3hrs
R = Ha
G = 90% (OIII G) + 10% (Ha)
B = 90% (OIII B) + 10% (Ha)

I find this area difficult to image due to the dense star field. Narrow band certainly makes it easier to control star sizes.

I found my first version a littel too dark so I brightened up the nebula a litte.

Sorry to spam, but I had a copy and paste error in the date.

Can you explain how you did this? I see that you used narrow band filters for the RGB .. But I am confused .. I have never seen this done with a DSLR..

Roy, sorry did not see your question until now.

I put Ha and OIII filter using stepping rings in front of the 200mm lens. I then extracted the red channels from the Ha shots and the green channel from the OIII and the blue channel from the OIII.

This gave BW images that I combined into color using Ha for the red channel, in the blue channel i combined 90% of the OIII blue plus 10% of the Ha (simulating the fact that H-alpha is normally accompanied with ca 10-20% of H-beta which is a blue wavelength). The green channel I constructed from 90% of the OIII green and 10% Ha. The Ha part into the green channel there is no real scientific support for, but it gave the image colors closer to the RGB ones.
