Magnificent image Mike and very nice processing! I've been wondering about the faint diagonal whisps just below the core. Have seen them on several images and noticed they don't follow the spiral current of the galaxy. Do you know if they are silhouettes of the more closer IF nebula that cover this area?

Thanks ,I belive the dust lane running across M81 is belived to be a lingering result from an encounter with M82 in the past, I am not sure though.

Glorious image, in both capture and processing. You must have used up a year's worth of clear skies in the UK Smile
